Each letter gets a little scene. "A is for accordion." "B is for bongo." "C is for clarinet." Some are music-themed; others, like "H is for hippo" and "W is for West Virginia," just feature whatever fits the letter.

Letter learning that actually sticks

Pairing a letter with an image is one of the oldest tricks in early literacy, and it works because kids remember the image before they remember the letter shape. Coloring an alphabet page reinforces both — they hold the letter on the page, they say the word out loud, they pick the colors. By the time they're done, the letter and the word are stuck together in their head.
